A brief history...
Organized in 1825, Decatur Presbyterian Church benefits from
its rich history. Education and community impact have always been hallmarks
of DPC, whose members founded Agnes Scott College, donated land for the
Decatur Library, and relocated Columbia Theological Seminary to Decatur.
Over its 181 proud years, the congregation has encouraged and supported
the sacred arts, sent many missionaries into foreign and domestic fields,
established a pre-eminent early childhood education program, and spawned
17 new congregations.
Location...
The city of Decatur enjoys the advantages and feel of a small town, while
only six miles from the center of downtown Atlanta. The church is located
in bustling downtown Decatur, one block south of Ponce de Leon Avenue,
at the intersection of Church and Sycamore Streets. We are just across
the street from the Decatur MARTA Station and Decatur Square. Free parking
is available to all our visitors, both in the church's main parking lot
(enter from Church Street) and in Sycamore House, our Youth and Toddler
building (on Sycamore Street). On Sunday mornings, the Decatur Library
generously allows our visitors to use their parking deck.
