Fellowship Events
Wednesday Night Supper & ProgramDecatur Presbyterian has Wednesday Night suppers and programs from September through mid-May. These are times when members from the congregation and guests enjoy good food, fellowship, and prayer. A wonderful dinner for children and adults is offered. The dinner line opens at 5:15 and closes at 6:30. Our programs start at 6:30 and last for 45 minutes. Please check the link to see our upcoming Wednesday Night programs.
Punch On The Lawn
We celebrate Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Rally Day with punch on the lawn with cookies and punch. These celebrations take place after the church service. Spring PicnicEvery year DPC has an annual spring picnic. Often we have held the event at various local parks; recently we have held it on our front lawn. We have great food and fellowship. Everyone is invited! Camping TripDPC’s annual camping trip is usually held on Memorial Day Weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights). For the past two years, we camped at Sweetwater Campground on Lake Allatoona. We have been able to reserve the same secluded area the past two years. Come when you are able. If you do not like to camp, come for the day. We will have great food, fellowship and worship. Contact Candace and/or Brad Godwin with any questions. Fourth of July Each year on the fourth of July church members and members of the community come to the lawn of the church for good food, fun and fellowship. We begin at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome. If able, please bring a side dish to share. We will grill hot dogs but will grill other food you bring. Ice cream is also available! When it gets dark, we watch the fireworks put on by the city of Decatur. Come help celebrate our country's birthday! Reformation Sunday Worship Service & PicnicThe last Sunday of October is Reformation Sunday. This is the Sunday that DPC remembers the church's Scottish heritage with a Kirkin of the Tartans service. A fun celebratory picnic follows the service on the front lawn. In a way it is our "homecoming dinner on the grounds." We have good food, games for the children, and a lot of fun. Please join us! Souper Bowl Fundraiser & LunchThis year marks the 21st anniversary of Souper Bowl Sunday. In 1989, in Columbia, SC, a youth group started a fundraiser with six other churches in the area. The youth were moved and felt compelled to act when they reflected on all of the food, fun, and fellowship associated with the Super Bowl Game. They realized that there were many individuals in their own community who lack a basic necessity of life--food. The idea spread into a nation-wide movement and service weekend. This year almost 17,000 different groups, including churches and schools, are getting ready to sponsor Souper Bowl Sunday events to help raise money to fight hunger in their communities. Since its inception, the movement has raised over $50 million dollars. After church on Super Bowl Sunday the youth collect an offering. Please join DPC Youth as we continue to help fight hunger. We also host a simple soup and salad lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the morning worship service. The youth decide to which food ministry the proceeds will go. In 2010 we are supporting Project Take Charge of Decatur Cooperative Ministry. This project helps DeKalb County residents with food, utilities, and housing emergency assistance.
