The purpose of Threshold Ministry is to invite women, men, and children who are in need into a community of faith where their stories can be heard, where Christ’s love can be demonstrated, and where practical assistance can be offered.
Threshold’s office is open from 2:30-4:30pm on Mondays and Thursdays for full assistance. Bag lunches are available during all weekdays while supplies last. Threshold is closed on holidays.
Threshold is located in the Slack Fellowship Hall. Enter via the double doors from the driveway between the church and the Decatur Library. Follow the ramp down to the left, then turn left and follow the hall into the Fellowship Hall.
Since opening its door in the Spring of 2012, Threshold Ministry has served more than 600 men, women, and children. Threshold volunteers welcome those who come to Threshold into a safe place. Volunteers listen attentively, learn another’s story, share joy over successes, and commiserate during times of misfortune.
Threshold provides the following assistance:

A key task of Threshold volunteers is to help clients navigate the maze of resources that exist for the economically disadvantaged.
Visitors are also invited into the life of Decatur Presbyterian Church, both worship and fellowship activities.
The ultimate goal of Threshold is to create – through compassionate outreach – a community of faith that fully reflects the vision expressed in Scripture, where everyone experiences what it means to be a child of God – belonging, engaged, and being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We welcome anyone in need to come meet with us. Policies for service vary, and some agencies have additional requirements. We can be reached at 404 378-1777.
