Talking about race isn’t easy, but it’s among the most important conversations parents have with their kids. To help prepare families for these conversations, Decatur Presbyterian Church will host a workshop called “Let’s Talk About Race: A Family Workshop” August 10th in the Slack Fellowship Hall (entrance near the playground from the main parking lot).
The evening will begin with a dinner at 5:00 pm, followed by a two-hour workshop. The event is open to the public. Dinner will be $5 for adults, $4 for children.
Read on for additional details. Please RSVP to Rev. Jamie Butcher no later than August 8th if you plan to attend. Click here to RSVP today.
Parents and children will be separated for the first half of the workshop and combine for a group activity/conversation at the end. We will create a space for open and honest conversation for parents to share from their experiences, plus offer helpful tips for raising awareness around race in developmentally appropriate ways.
