DPC Begins Special Summer Sunday School Programs
This summer, Rev. Dr. Todd Speed will undertake intentional time of study while on sabbatical. The church will have the opportunity to join him on the spiritual journey!
All are invited to join us this summer for two unique opportunities to participate in the sabbatical study along with Todd.
First, pick up a copy of John Pavlovitz’s book, “A Bigger Table”, and join us for discussion! This title is from a list of books Todd will read while on sabbatical. How can we come together in relationship and communion as a “messy, authentic, and hopeful spiritual community”? Today, it is easy to draw lines and build walls to exclude those with whom we do not see eye to eye, or who come from backgrounds different from our own. How do we alter our thinking and living to live more generously together? Join us as we read, discuss, and learn together!
This class will meet in the parlor on Sunday mornings at 9:15 during the month of June.
Next, come to hear perspectives on “The Church of Today,” another theme of Rev. Dr. Speed’s sabbatical study! Decatur Presbyterian has invited guest teachers who are experts on different components of the changing nature of today’s church to speak on Sunday mornings. What is happening today in the global church? How does our culture view ‘faith’ in current times? How is the church reaching new communities through work in new church development here in Greater Atlanta Presbytery?
This class will meet in the Crusaders Classroom Sunday mornings at 9:15 for 4 weeks beginning on July 8.
