Driver Safety Class for Senior Adults

April 8, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Decatur Presbyterian’s Senior Adult Ministry will sponsor an AARP Driver Safety Class on Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Stained Glass Room.

Entry is from Church Street under the awning. Spend a Saturday at DPC learning tips and techniques to become a better driver, and safely share the road with those who are not. The class also may help you with elderly relatives and their decision to stop driving.

Many insurance companies allow a discount for those who successfully complete the class. Check with your agent in advance. The discount usually is in effect for three years, then you need to take the course again to continue that benefit.

Our instruction will be DPC member Dan Shelles, who will guide you through the interesting manual and videos to help you manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. The course is designed for anyone age 50 and older.

The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, and can be paid incash or check (not credit cards) on the day of the class. The group will meet in the Stained Glass Room (McGeachy 202), and entry will be under the awning from Church Street. Bring a sack lunch for your limited break, or visit a nearby sandwich shop.

To make a reservation, call the church office at (404) 378-1777 or send an email to RSVP@dpchurch.org. The class is open to the public.
