Many of our students have experienced interruptions and gaps in their formal education and come with limited print literacy experiences. Some are newcomers to school and have had no formal educational experiences before. We are a tuition-free school. Transportation and lunch are provided, thanks to our generous community of supporters. The GVP community includes students, staff, and a large core of committed volunteers. Our student-teacher ratio is very low and every student benefits from individual tutoring provided by volunteers.

Mercy Community Church is a small organic, community church that started in 2005. It is a church on a mission, a place where people living in housing, and those who do not, come together to work and make the world a better place. We seek to make the beautiful and difficult task of loving one another—as messy as it may be—to form true, honest, authentic, welcoming community. We ground ourselves in prayer and explore different avenues of self-expression, seeking to create space in our lives where God might help us to grow in new ways and live on the earth differently. All are truly welcome.
