As followers of Jesus Christ we are called to love God and to love neighbor. We are called to be peacemakers and reconcilers. Our nation and our communities are struggling with issues of racial injustice. We, as the body of Christ, participate in the struggle. We grieve alongside our neighbors whose voices have been drowned out and whose belovedness and sacred worth has been questioned. We grieve over lives lost to senseless and unnecessary violence. We call for God’s justice, mercy, grace, and peace to be present in our world and on our streets. We seek God’s wisdom and in doing so seek to educate ourselves about the experiences of those who may not look like us or think like us or live like us.
