April 4, 2021 – Easter Sunday

We are very much looking forward to seeing many of you on Easter morning for an outdoors in-person worship! Thus far, the weather looks sunny, though a bit cool, so bring a jacket or blanket along with your mask and a chair to sit in. For those of you who may be out of town or not quite ready to gather outdoors with a group, join us on YouTube Livestream at 8:30am or anytime thereafter.

For those who want to help flower the cross on the Terrace Garden, come anytime between 9:30am – 10:15am to place flowers and take pictures. The flowered cross is always a beautiful sight on a bright Easter morning.

In the summer of 2020, the session of DPC responded affirmatively to the invitation from the PC(USA) to become a “Matthew 25 Congregation”. This affirmation includes the intentional commitment to three important efforts, which we will explore during worship during January:
January 24 – Eradicating Systemic Poverty
These are truly lofty and challenging goals, and yet they are worthy of a God who chose to be born among us, to bring humankind hope, peace, love and joy. I invite you to read Matthew 25 in preparation for this sermon series and to share what you have learned from relevant books and resources that will add to our conversation about these topics. In many ways, the ministry of the Church of Jesus Christ has never been more important or relevant to the challenges we face as a people and a nation.

The Advent Festival will kick-off at 2pm. It will be a little different from previous years, but will still be a wonderful time to begin the Advent season together. The first week of Advent story will be shared from Godly Play, there will be dancing, and several crafts. Most of the activities are geared towards children but adults are welcome to register for a bag too (Contact Emily if you’d like to know the projects before registering for a bag).

Beginning at 2:45pm, we will worship together at Holy Ground. There will be music, scripture, a message, and we will share in communion together all centered around the first week of Advent.

You are encouraged to join us for both events, however, there is a place on the registration to sign up to attend one. If you cannot attend but would like the Advent Festival activity bag, there is also a place to register for that.

What to Expect:

Registration: You are registering your household, not individuals. Please list those in your household who plan to attend in the space provide on the registration form. There is space to safely have 50 households in the parking lot for this event. In an effort to keep people as safe as possible, registrations will not be taken at the event unless there are unused spaces.

PARKING & CHECK-IN: Please arrive between 1:40-2:00 to allow time to check-in and settle in before we start at 2pm (If you are coming for Holy Ground worship only you may arrive between 2:25-2:40). Park on the lower deck of the library parking deck. Everyone in the car will have their temperature checked at the entrance to the parking lot, before getting out of the car. There will be greeters at the top of both stairwells leading to the upper deck of the parking lot. You will sign in there and if you register for an advent activity bag, you will receive it there too. Those in your household will be taken to a circle. Please do not share circles with those not in your household.

WHILE YOU ARE HERE: Each household will be assigned a designated space where you will hang out during the event. You will remain in your designated space until you are directed to other areas. Masks must be worn during the entire event for anyone 2 years old and older. For children under 3, we encourage strollers or carriers to help with social distancing. You are invited to chat with others but must maintain social distancing (6ft. or more.)

RAIN PLAN: If it rains on December 6th. We will schedule a drive-thru pick up for Advent Festival bags & record the service to share.

Click HERE to register for Advent Festival, Holy Ground, both, or to have an Advent Festival activity bag sent to you. (If you registered for the 11/29 date, then you do not need to re-register.)

DPC family, we invite you to use these Holy Week resources at home and pair them with the online worship services that will be published on Palm Sunday (April 5th), Maundy Thursday (April 9), Good Friday (April 10), and Easter Sunday (April 12). They are intended to be used by our all ages of our church family, both by individuals and families. If you live on your own, consider calling a friend and sharing this devotional time together each day during Holy Week! Whether or not you have journeyed through an entire Holy Week with your church family before or not, this is a great opportunity to do so. Walk with Jesus this week and ponder the great mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is Risen, Christ will come again!
May this be a meaningful Holy Week for us all and may our worship and devotional times connect us as a church family while we are physically apart.

1. Holy Week at Home Resource- Devotional with simple objects and activities for any age, family or individual
2. Holy Week Coloring Pages
3. Instructions on how to make your own “Resurrection Garden” using simple items from around your home.
