Provide Help to Hurricane Harvey Victims
Hurricane Harvey has devastated cities and towns all along the gulf coast in Texas and Louisiana with storm damage and lasting floods. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance has already begun to setup operations to provide relief to victims. Decatur Presbyterian Church also offers ways to offer help to those in need. For those interested in helping, several options exist for participating in relief efforts.
Emergency Clean Up Buckets
Decatur Presbyterian Church will collect donations of cleaning supplies and 5-gallon buckets with lids for creating emergency clean up buckets that will be sent to affected areas. Click here to register to bring needed supplies. In addition to these cleaning supplies, monetary donations are also accepted to help offset the cost of shipping the completed buckets. All donations are needed no later than September 10th. Donations may be brought to either the church office trailer or Sycamore House, during office hours (9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday). Decatur Presbyterian’s Youth and Children’s Ministries will assemble the buckets on September 10th. The congregation is also invited to help assemble buckets after worship on September 17th. If you have questions, please contact Rev. Alex Rodgers, at arodgers@dpchurch.org.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is also accepting monetary donations for Hurricane relief efforts. The organization stays “on the ground” long after the emergency rescues have been done and other relief organizations have left to continue to help rebuild communities and provide emergency assistance to natural disaster victims.
